Fever
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
These symptoms can range from mild to severe, and they may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. If you think you may have been exposed to COVID-19, or if you're experiencing any of these symptoms, please contact a healthcare provider right away. Early diagnosis and treatment is key to preventing serious illness.
If you have symptoms of COVID-19, or have been in contact with someone who has the virus, you may be wondering where to go for testing. Many people choose to go to their local urgent care center for testing.

It's easy to mistake these symptoms for seasonal allergies. Learn more about the difference between COVID-19 and allergies here
If you test positive for COVID-19, it is important to self-isolate and contact your local health department to help trace any close contacts you may have had. You will also need to continue to monitor your symptoms and seek medical attention if they worsen. Lab PCR TEST

Rapid PCR and lab-based PCR tests are two of the most common types of tests used to diagnose COVID-19. Both of these tests detect the presence of the virus in a sample of body fluids, usually from a swab of the nose or throat.

Lab PCR tests are typically more accurate than rapid tests, but they can take longer to get results. Our lab-based PCR tests take about 24-48 hours.

RAPID PCR TEST

We offer rapid RT-PCR testing, which delivers results within 1-2 hours of testing. This test provides a fast and convenient option for those who need PCR results sooner than the standard 24-48 hours.

The rapid RT-PCR testing is particularly useful for those who require a quick diagnosis. However, rapid PCR tests are not as accurate as lab-based PCR tests, so it is important to consult with a healthcare provider to determine which type of test is right for you.

RAPID ANTIGEN TEST

Rapid antigen tests for COVID-19 are point-of-care tests that can provide results in as little as 15 minutes. These tests detect the presence of the virus's proteins, known as antigens, in a sample from the nose.

Antigen tests are most accurate when performed within the first week of infection, when levels of viral proteins are at their highest. However, these tests can also be positive in people who have been infected for longer but have not yet developed symptoms.

Positive results from antigen tests are highly accurate, but there is a higher chance of false negatives, so negative results do not rule out infection. With this in mind, negative results from an antigen test may need to be confirmed with a PCR test prior to making treatment decisions or to prevent the possible spread of the virus due to a false negative. While rapid antigen tests are not as accurate as PCR tests, they are much less expensive and can be performed more quickly, making them useful for screening large groups of people.

ANTIBODY TEST

Antibody tests are a type of blood test that can help to show if you have had a previous infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. Antibodies are proteins that your body produces in response to an infection. The presence of antibodies may mean that you have some immunity to the virus as a result of vaccination or prior infection and could potentially be less likely to get sick again if you are exposed to it. Antibody tests are still being studied and it is not yet known how long antibodies last or how much protection they provide.

SOME WAYS TO HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD

There are several simple ways that everyone can help to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Firstly, it is important to regularly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Alternatively, you can use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. It is also important to avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth. Additionally, it is crucial to practice social distancing by staying at least six feet away from other people. If you must go out in public, be sure to wear a face mask. Finally, be sure to clean and disinfect all surfaces that are frequently touched. By following these simple guidelines, we can all help to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

How long is the incubation period for COVID-19?

The incubation period for COVID-19 is the time between exposure to the virus and the onset of symptoms. The incubation period is thought to be around two weeks, although it can range from one to 14 days.

What are the primary symptoms of COVID-19?

The primary symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and a dry cough. Some people may also have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. However, some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms at all.

Can asymptomatic people transmit COVID-19?

The short answer to this question is that we don't know for sure. While there is some evidence that asymptomatic people can transmit the virus, the jury is still out on how often this occurs. What we do know is that people who are symptomatic are much more likely to transmit the virus. We also know that people can be infected with the virus and show no symptoms for several days.

What is the rapid diagnostic test for COVID-19?

There are two types of rapid diagnostic tests: 1) Molecular tests (ie: polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests) & 2) rapid antigen tests.

What is the difference between rapid & PCR tests for COVID-19?

PCR tests work by amplifying viral RNA, while rapid tests work by detecting antibodies that the body produces in response to infection. Because PCR tests are more accurate, they are the preferred method for diagnosing active infections. However, rapid tests can be useful for identifying people who have been exposed to the virus and may be infectious even if they do not show symptoms.

What are some severe consequences of the coronavirus disease?

One severe consequence of the coronavirus is pneumonia, which can lead to difficulty breathing and potentially death. Another severe consequence includes the virus leading to sepsis (which is a life-threatening condition caused by the body's response to infection). In addition, the virus can cause kidney failure and organ damage. Some of the other potential consequences of COVID-19 include stroke, heart attack, and pregnancy complications.
