Sick Car Visit
Fast Car-Side Doctors Appointment In Newport Beach, CA
Our talented and dedicated staff meets our patients’ needs however and wherever we can—including your car!
Many patients want to bypass the waiting and exam rooms altogether due to infectious health problems, busy schedules, or simple personal preference. Telemedicine appointments can often cover follow-ups, specialist consultations, and prescription refills. But what can you do for healthcare needs that require hands-on treatment by your doctor? At Newport Center Urgent Care, you can bypass our urgent care center with our sick car appointment option.
Our caring healthcare team wants to help our patients however we can. Sick car visits make getting an exam, diagnosis, and healthcare safe and comfortable. Our caring and compassionate staff meets you where you are, figuratively and literally. You still receive full access to our center’s entire selection of lab and testing technology. Just stay relaxed in your seat as we bring our equipment right to your car door. This is especially helpful for patients with rashes, gastrointestinal issues, urinary tract infections, and highly contagious illnesses.
Providing first-rate medical attention is our number one priority, and we stop at nothing to give it to the Newport Beach community. We have a doctor on demand that allows us to help walk-in—or drive-in patients—without an appointment. Our team always adds a personal touch to our superior service because we want our patients to know how much we care. We also have an on-site pharmacy that allows us to quickly fulfill online prescriptions for a quick and smooth recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are viruses contagious?
Many viruses are contagious and can be caught in a variety of ways. Some of the most common include coming into contact with an infected person, that person’s bodily fluids, or a contaminated surface. An animal or insect bite can also cause a viral infection. In some cases, a child can be born with a viral infection if the mother transfers it to them during birth or pregnancy.
When are you contagious?
Depending on the bacteria or virus, you can be infectious between 2 and 14 days after being exposed. This includes the 2 to 5 days before symptoms first start showing. And even if your symptoms are mild, you are no less contagious. For the flu, patients are infectious for about 5 to 7 days after symptoms first show, while colds can be passed onto others up to 2 weeks afterward.
What tests are done to check for cancer?
Different types of cancers may require different tests, from biopsies, cytology tests, and endoscopy procedures to X-rays, MRIs, and other radiology imagery tests. However, many of these tests can look for the signs of developing cancer, but the only one that can diagnose it is a biopsy. Biopsies examine tissues from lumps and other potentially cancerous tissues on a molecular level, examining the DNA and RNA to see if they are cancerous.
Can you drink alcohol before a blood test?
Some blood tests require avoiding alcohol for as many as 24 hours before your appointment. These tests include blood glucose tests, cholesterol tests, liver function tests, triglyceride level tests, basic metabolic panels, lipoprotein panels, and renal function panels. When alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream, it can affect your tests’ results and make them inaccurate. Alcohol isn’t the only thing that blood tests may require you to make some adjustments to in your diet beforehand. Any food and drinks other than water can do the same.
What time does urgent care close?
We aim to be as flexible to our patients as possible, both inside our urgent care and outside it with our sick car visit option. We are open every day of the week, and our urgent care hours are 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday and 8am to 6pm on the weekend. If you need lab work and tests done, we schedule our last ones an hour before closing. Walk-ins and drive-ins are always welcome.
How do you know when to go to urgent care?
For patients aiming to limit the amount of time they spend in the exam room, you have to decide between telemedicine and car appointments. Telemedicine can take care of any issues that don’t need to be performed in-person, such as writing prescription refills, performing follow-up consultations on earlier treatment, and giving specialist referrals. However, sick car visits at our urgent care are required once you need personal, face-to-face attention and examination. Common sick car treatments include X-ray imaging for strains and fractures, physical exams, and immunizations. Emergency treatments like lacerations, stitches, and minor burns will need to be treated inside our urgent care.
Should I Schedule A Car Appointment?
Don’t miss out on the care you need when you need it!
If you need face-to-face medical care and examination, you have two options at Newport Center Urgent Care: in-clinic and car side appointments. While both can cover many of the same exam services, there are times when our urgent care team highly recommends a car appointment. If you experience any of the following symptoms of potentially infectious illnesses, our staff is prepared to perform a thorough examination while you stay in the driver’s seat:
- Sore throat
- Congestion and runny nose
- Fevers and chills
- Skin rash
- Loss of taste or smell
- Gastrointestinal issues
- Upper respiratory problems
- Shortness of breath and difficulty breathing
- Nausea and vomiting
However, if you need emergency treatment, such as stitches, burn care, incision and drainage, and more, you will need to come inside for an in-practice visit. This gives you a safe, sterile environment to ensure your treatment goes smoothly and your healing without issues or complications.
To schedule an appointment with our incredible staff today, you can reach us at 949.760.8300 or request your visit online.
